Still wrestling with British Gas defaults registered at a property we never lived at, also still can't grasp as to why British Gas are allowed to report to CRA's. We had a default/s registered against us on a property we never lived at. Asides from the fact this has cost us considerably over the years along with missed opportunity and being unable to remortgage we've noticed something has happened with the one remaining default. It was originally registered against us in January 2018 for £0 however we've now noticed that it has been amended from £0 to £562. I'm sure it's not coincidence but we are being threatened with a court claim by British Gas debt collectors, however for an entirely different amount of £309. We're more than comfortable going in to court as it gives us the opportunity to invalidate any claim they have over us. My question is can British Gas amend the amount of a default once it has been issued and over 4 years later. My other question is does any one know of any good legal practices in the South West that have acted/litigated successfully against British Gas. Many thanks
