My mother died April 2019, probate was granted March 2020. The executors (my brother and sister) distributed some of the money from the estate (from her house sale) in July 2020. In the same month I requested a list of estates accounts, assets and liabilities and approximate amount remaining to be distributed to all beneficiaries (there are only four of us, her children) they provided a “rubbish ball park fugue” all future requests for information have been ignored. I found out the two remaining properties sold in June this year. But still to day no further inheritance funds have been distributed from July 2020 to date. If fact, I would say the last info was a blatant lie when one of the beneficiaries stated “the flats have sold, but the funds haven’t been received yet” rubbish under English conveyance procedures and solicitors not being able to “hold onto sale proceeds” I did contact a solicitor late 2020, and they advised they could write to the executors and insist the information be shared/supplied. But this would cost me about £500-£600 to do, but they could also just ignore this request from my solicitor like they have all other correspondence. So as an individual, is there any simple way I can apply to the court or probate dept or complete a form?) for a formal request for this information, and challenge why funds have not been distributed in a timely way?

From what you have said I feel that you expected too much too soon. It takes time for executors to deal with administration. They need to collect all the information, all the funds from sales and calculate taxes that may be due as well as formally advertise in the Press to ensure that any debts are known and dealt with. There may be complications that are being dealt with, although in this time, one should expect results.
Executors are obliged by legal requirements and if they do not carry out their duties correctly and honestly, they can be in serious trouble.
If you feel that the executors have not acted correctly, you could contact the Probate Court and ask for guidance.

It is a cost to the estate every tome ypu ask and it is answered. The executors can instruct the solicitor not to answer you until they have something to say.
We cannot tell from here what the difficulty might be, but there are often unexpected difficulties in closing an estate. Equally there are often improper delays within the solicitors' office.
The executors have (I assume) just as much interest in this being completed quickly as do you.
