    I need power of attorney to close her bank account. Do I automatically have that or what do I do to get it?

    Condolences on your loss.

    In the UK you should immediately inform the bank who will immediately freeze the bank, and often close it just on production of a certified death certificate.
    Sometimes they will request the personal representative obtains a grant of representation (probate).

    A power of attorney gives the legal authority to deal with matters on behalf of a living person
