I have an old car which I purchased 2 years ago , it went into storage and has not been out of storage since . The dvla are taking me to court for no insurance, I did not fill a sorn in as I didn’t know what one is . What can I do

You must have continuous motor insurance. The only exception is if you've made a statutory off road notification. sorn.
I suggest a grovelling letter to DVLA giving your excuses asking them to drop the charge. Nobody has been put at risk.
Immediately apply for a sorn to show you have learnt your lesson. Good luck.
Perhaps use the Johnson defence ?
