  • Dubious use of Data by BW Legal/ PRAC Financial

    Hi there,

I received a letter from BW Legal acting on behalf of PRAC Financial relating an outstanding balance from British Gas for £165.48. The period in question was March-June 2017 however the property in question was a house my parents rented in 2008 I was not even on the tenancy. The matter has been resolved with BW Legal as far as the outstanding debt is concerned however, it is apparent to me that British Gas has sold on these debts and this company is just fielding out letters to anyone who may have had links to the property in question without doing any proper research or due diligence. I am concerned as to how they have obtained my current address given that I lived in the property in question over 14 years ago and my name was not even on the tenancy. I wonder if anyone could let me know whether there may have been potential breaches of my data?
    Thanks in advance

Something does seem to have gone wrong, but identifying what ahd in whose hands is not possible from what you say.
Ask BW Legal where they got the information from?
