  • being harassed by an ebay buyer

    Hoping someone can help.
I sold a motorbike on behalf of my partner via ebay. The listing was absolutely honest and listed it as not MOT'd, needing a shakedown and chrome not perfect.
Someone bought it (without seeing it), paid via paypal, arranged a courier and then the courier stated it was being sent to a garage,
The buyer - two weeks later- states he isn't happy. Lists a long list of issues and wants money back. Some of the issues he listed were newer parts on the bike.
As this was making no sense to us, we checked the MOT.
We have realised he has had it MOT'd and done work on it but requested a full refund via paypal.
We have offered him a full refund on return of the bike at his cost.
But he has altered the bike whilst asking for a full refund.

Where do I stand here with the buyer and paypal?

    Many thanks in advance

Here is a link to ebay live chat

https://www.ebay.co.uk/help/selling/...g-fees?id=4822 (scroll down, right to the bottom)

Do NOT give them refund just yet. Ebay will send you “refund form” and you’ll have to pay for postage. After you receive bike, examine it for any damage. Only then you can give them a refund.

Also keep an eye on PayPal. Often buyer starts claim and you got certain amount of time to reply. If you fail, they will give them money back and they will keep bike too!

    good luck!!

      Thanks for this.
Buyer is going through paypal rather than ebay whoch I don'tunderstand either.
I have also discovered paypal protection for buyers does not cover motorbikes so I am hopeful they will dismiss the claim.
Can't believe he has done work onthe bike, had it MOT'd and now wants a full refund.?!

This is very odd. In the past they could only go through PayPal only when ebay was unsuccessful.

I guess after ebay dropped PayPal things has change…

PayPal team is hit and miss, sometimes helpful sometimes utterly useless. If I was you I would definitely try to get in touch with them. Sometimes takes days before reply but usually eventually they do.

Wont hurt contact ebay too. I’m sure they deal with situations like that on monthly bases x
