  • Solicitor won’t engage or release my late father’s will

Hello, my cousin who’s a solicitor wrote my fathers will in 2004. My father passed away 2020. When my mothers solicitors asked my cousin for it, he wrote a rude letter, refused to cooperate or find the will.

I've asked my mother (we’re estranged) for information and why she didn’t want to find the original will, she said she didn’t want to pay solicitors to fight him and that it didn’t matter as she’d carried out my fathers wishes and the new will (not signed) left everything to her so it didn’t matter.
I’ve tried contacting my cousin twice now only to be ignored.

The reason I’m trying to find my fathers original will is after my father passed, my mother and brother told me they didn’t want to have anything more to do with me - ( I’ve had a very difficult relationship with my mother for a long time).

The bottom line is I believe my mother is going to try and disinherit me and leave everything to my brother so that’s why I feel it’s very important to track down my fathers original will.

I’m looking for help or advice on what my options are or who to contact - I have contacted the SRA who said they couldn’t help.

Any help or advice will be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you.

    Reed
