  • Garage won't give back my car

I bought my car for 8k from a dealership in February 2021. In 6 months it went to the garage 5/6 times for various faults and problems. Eventually I was told it needed a full engine rebuild. I contacted the dealer who told me to send it back to them (4hrs away) and they'd sort it at no cost to me.
My car was sent back to my dealership on 30th September due to a huge fault that two garages claimed was present when I bought my car. It's been 11 weeks and im still trying to get my car back. They claim its fixed but theyre waiting for the warranty to accept the claim. The warranty company said they've not heard from anyone since i took out my policy. They claimed they'd do my MOT but the government website still shows it as expired. They claimed they'd send my log book but its been 10 months and I've not recieved it. They won't give me a refund for my car and after over 45 phonecalls and 20 emails, they're making excuse after excuse as to why they can't send it back yet.

im 6 months pregnant with a full time job, 3 kids and no car and I cant deal with this stress anymore. Where do I stand?

          Hi Milbur93

Contact CAB / Trading Standard explain the situation to them.

They will give you a complaint number.

You are covered by the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

Do you know the first date that the fault was reported to the dealer after the purchase date?

Send them the following template, add CAB / Trading Standards - Ref: XXXXXXXXXXX

Send it by email / post (make sure you get Proof of Postage).

          Update the thread.
