  • PPI claim and fees

I signed a letter of authority to FINDYOURPPI back in August 2019.. Just after I signed the agreement, I found the paperwork I needed to make the claim myself, and subsequently made a successful claim against HBOS PLC which was paid to me in December 2019. Just last week (July 2021), I received an email from FINDYOURPPI requesting the 20% + VAT fees (some 18 months after the payout). Am I legally required to pay their fees, even though I ended up claiming the compensation myself? And if the agreement I had signed means I am liable, does FINDYOURPPI (an English company) have authority to take me to court in Northern Ireland?

    Hi Janettem

Yes you signed paperwork and they will have you believe that they did this and did that, when they did nothing. You could send HBOS a SAR, they will send all the data they have on your claim (but make sure you specify that), hey have 30 days to provide that information. Once you get that information you can demonstrate they did nothing to reclaim your PPI. You can then lodge complaints with their regulator.

I'm sure more advice will follow.

Depends on the contract you signed. There will probably be a clause tying you to a commission UF PPI is repaid

You could leave a negative review on Trustpilot, explaining that you did all the work to get your PPI refund, they actually did nothing, but importantly, write that the bank can confirm that.
