Single person council tax discount

I received a standard letter from my local council wanting to check that I still can receive the single person 25% discount. I completed the form and yes I am the only occupant (and always have been) who fits all of
the criteria’s listed.

however they also asked if anyone over the age of 18
gets correspondence to my address and I said yes (true because my brother does) and I quoted his name and in the space where it asked for his normal residential address i put the words “sofa hopping” which is true but I didn’t say that he doesn’t hop on mine! Am I going to have a problem?

I am worried sick!

Firstly don't worry, the Council hasn't said anything different to date, If they do then you have something to deal with. All you might need to do is get confirmation from the people (friends etc) he stays with and submit that to the Council, that's your evidence regards his 'sofa hopping'. Even if you had written 'doesn't stay with me', they might still of raised a 'query', that's Council's for you.
