  • Hello and help! (troubles with car finance company)

    Hello everyone,

I am here on behalf of a family member who is in a bit of trouble. I'm trying to help her find a lawyer (ideally pro bono as money is very very limited) who can help with a very serious legal dispute she has with a car finance company.

She has mental health issues, which this company were aware of from the beginning but they've continued to mislead, bully, threaten, send bailiffs and have also issued a CCJ. She previously had help from a lawyer who offered her a couple of free sessions as a favour and when going over the terms of her original agreement with the company, the lawyer actually noticed that she had counter claim and the company have acted out of line. This counter claim has now been filed with the courts. Unfortunately, the lawyer can't help anymore as the free sessions ran out and she is left with no representation.

I'm really trying to help her find someone who specialises in this area of law so she has the right advice and guidance though this process. She is very anxious about it and I don't want her to go through this alone as it's very daunting and she has a great deal on the line to lose because of this company. She is scared and fearful of them and it's pushing her over the edge mentally. We've called around all the nearest local lawyers and no one deals in this kind of law. (the lawyer who helped before didn't specialise but just noticed the issue)

We really think she has a strong case against them but guidance from a pro is imperative. If anyone could please offer any advice of where I could find help for this sort of issue, I would greatly appreciate it.

    Thanks so much!
    Brooke

You could try these people,( https://www.lawworks.org.uk/) or if you are near a university with a law department they sometimes run legal clinics
