  • Missed deadline for submitting witness statement defending private parking charge

    Hi all,

I have an upcoming hearing to defend against a private parking charge from PCM. The defence has been logged but unfortunately I have missed the deadline to submit a witness statement. Could anyone give me advice on how this might go please. Do I still stand a chance of winning?

    Thanks!

Send it in anyway, with apologies. Send as a PDF attachment to an email, not forgetting your signature.

    how late are you?

Thank you, I will! Deadline was 1st April unfortunately. I have had someone helping me to deal with this and unfortunately they didn't inform me of this. First time I've dealt with the courts, so I didn't realise what was required of me.

It may be refused, depends on the judge. Get it there anyway.

it just means you may have more to do to defend

In a recent case I was dealing with the defendant failed to file a defence and received a court reminder and a 30 day extension.
I would hope the same leeway is given you

Thank you folks, much appreciated. My only concern really is what may come of this if I lose. As far as I can tell, if you lose you simply pay up and a CCJ is avoided by paying? Is this all?

Yes, that's all that will happen.
