  • HELP!! Left a private parking fine from gym and now have county court letter!

    Hi,

I received several PCN's for private car park at my gym. I was a member at the time of parking and I never disputed it, after advice from several people. I stupidly ignored the PCN letters and threw them away thinking they would stop sending them. However, yesterday I received a letter from County Court Business Centre claiming a total of £275.

Can / should I defend this?

    Would really appreciate a reply.

    Thank you.

First thing is contact the gym and get them to cancel

After 5 days acknowledge the claim online using the details on the form and the password. Nothing in the defence. This gives you 33 days to get the defence to court.

CPR 31.14 request to the solicitor, SAR to the parking company. Templates in the shortcuts panel on this page.

Thank you for your reply. The car park is not owned by the gym it’s a private run car park but if you can only park there if you are a member & put your number plate into the iPad in the gym & it must have not registered my number plate.

So it's owned by the gym but run by someone else. Not unusual. Contacting the gym and getting them to cancel us the eadiesr

The gym have nothing to do with the car park. It’s run by a private parking company.

You are failing to see who instructed the parking company - after all they do not own the car park they just run it on someones behalf, probably in this the gym.

When I contacted the gym about it when I received my first letter, they said they had nothing to do with the car park & couldn’t help me.

If they've nothing to do with the car park then why do they have a screen to input VRM? So they do have some control of the parking.
