  • University- Chasing unpaid fees after acknowleding poor service

    Hi guys,

A couple of years ago I did a masters degree at a UK university. The degree was a disaster and not as advertised. Promised modules were cut and not delivered. The quality of teaching staff was far below what was advertised and I was bullied and harassed by two members of staff for making a complaint. The whole experience was awful. They overstated the employment prospects as well and I'm still doing the same job I was before the degree.

I complained to the University and the Ombudsman at the time and they upheld the complaint. The university admitted bullying had taken place, they admitted the quality of the course was well below their standards and they offered £1,000 in compensation to everyone on the course, even those who were unaffected by the poor quality and bullying. I rejected this and asked to negotiate a higher settlement as I had personally suffered more due to the bullying and I had to put over 100 hours of work to get them to acknowledge the complaint. I have always been open to paying them, just not the full amount. The University never got back to me.

Fast forward to today and they have passed my debt onto Sta debt collections for the full amount of tuition fees. Can anyone advise on what I can do for next steps? I'm lost at sea here.

    Thanks so much in advance,
