My wife has recently passed away.
She was 69 and I am 65 (retired early to care for my wife).
We've lived in the same private rented 3 bedroom house for more than 10 years.
My wife's daughter (my step daughter) has lived with us off and on for maybe 2 of those years.
She has never contributed to the rent or any expenses incurred.
She is not mentioned in the Tenancy.
She has her own private rented accommodation (1 bedroom in a house of multiple occupancy) not far from us and is single aged 33 years old and is unemployable on benefits.
She has mental illness's one being 'Borderline Personality Disorder' she is also a 'Hypochondriac' (she is well known to the Doctors) and a 'Hoarder'.
Over the years she has accumulated a considerable hoard of her belongings at our home.
People would consider this hoard to be 85% rubbish, not worth anything, but I understand a 10 year old shopping receipt IS worth keeping for this type of hoarder.
This hoard is spread around the home, mostly now in the loft in black bags and in the smallest bedroom which is impossible to gain access to the walls/window and now smells musky. The contents of the small bedroom are too bulky to go in the loft space.
Now my wife has passed I do not want to stay in the house, I want to leave asap.
I have another place I can go to stay, a relative of mine.
I need the house empty so I can clean and prepare it for hand back to the landlord.
My step daughter is not rational and refuses my offer to put her belongings into storage, she will not remove anything from my home.
Her hoard would probably fill 2 large Transit vans.
Also, she deposited a Greyhound dog on us, which we have looked after/loved for more than 5 years (unsure of the dogs ownership).
Again she made no contribution to the dogs expenses, apart from depositing on us some knitted dog coats that we've never used.
Any idea what I can do with the dog?
No family member (Aunts, Uncles etc) is in a position to help her.
How do I get her belongings out of the home legally, so I can move on with my life?
