I live on an unadopted road and share responsibility with other residence. Since moving in there has been extensive developement around us that was not planned when we bought. As a result there has been a huge amount of heavy plant machinery using the road aswell as daily deliveries of ready made cement. Now the road is being dug up for work to do with the building. I have two questions are we responsible for repairs given the unexpected amount of use, and should we be notified whenever the road us being dug up.

I assume the owner of the road is not known (unregistered land).
If so, I am afraid you have the (shared) responsibility of maintaining the road.
1. This does not give you ownership of it, so the develpoer doesn't need your permission to put services in it, but they must
reinstste the road to it previous standard.
2. They only need to notify you if the road is going to be temporarily closed.
In your place I would check the planning permission. If you are lucky, the developer may be planning to upgrade the road to an adoptable standard.
