  • America's Fragile Democracy

I am 73 years old, a Pennsylvania U.S. resident, a JD, former college professor in American Government, licensed builder with an interest in Communist China for 40 years. I welcome questions concerning our (U.S.) Constitution, our Congress, Supreme Court and future of our fragile representative democracy. Thanks much.

Let's explore the basis of America's system of law and government. We have a lower house (House of Representatives based on population, currently 435 members) and an upper house called the Senate with 2 senators from each of 50 states for a total of 100 Senators. House representatives are elected every 2 years on a random basis. The upper house or Senate is up for election each 6 years. Our above "Congress" is composed of 535 members. The issue in America is that Congress has gained absolute power because incumbents are re-elected term after term with super name recognition and by default absolute power.

Our Constitution, unlike most all other Constitutions is not based on Ideals. Rather, it is based on concrete rules of law which control our everyday lives. Our populace now fears an Oligarchy is taking control. That is a small group of the wealthy and powerful seek to control the populace. This sort of class war-fair has nothing to do with political philosophy such as socialism, democracy, communism and so forth. Precisely, it has to do with the rich vs. the poor.

For instance, Communist China has a political philosophy diametrically opposed to communist. YET, the rich controlling Democratic American industry are absolutely working with Communist China's powerful industrial complex in controlling a global economy.

There appears to be a global economic class warfare developing. NOT THE U.K. V. FRANCE (NATION V. NATION), NOT DEMOCRACY V. SOCIALISM/COMMUNISM (Political philosphy). RATHER IT IS THE POWERFUL & WEALTHY V. THE MIDDLE CLASS AND POOR. WHAT SAY YOU?
