Hi all, not sure if anyone can give me any advice. I stupidly bought some furniture on finance in 2004 and then injured myself resulting in 8 months off work. long story short i fell behind on the payments and had a ccj through court. This debt was paid off in full in 2008. I sold my house last year as we wanted to move to something smaller but the sale fell through because this charge was not removed after the debt was paid. I have contacted the orignal debtor and the court but no one has any record of the debt, me personally or my address, it is not listed in the credit report and two solicitors have failed to get this charge removed as i cant prove i have paid it and the finance company say there is no debt to pay. they should have removed it at the time of the full payment but someone forgot?? can any one give me any advice please.

Fill in form CN1 from Land Registry together with all your evidence that it has been paid in full. Land Registry then write to the creditor and give them 15 days in which to respond saying yes or no. If there is no response after 15 days, Land Registry will automatically remove it.
An affidavit together with letter from finance company may be sufficient evidence for Land Registry
