  • EON & LOWELL CHASING OLD DEBT

Hi Everyone I hope your all staying well

Im just looking for some advice if possible please this morning my wife received a Debt collection letter from a company called Lowell’s chasing a debt on behalf of the utilities company EON they have offered a discount of 75% to pay off the debt

We didn’t know anything about this debt it’s not listed on any of the 3 Credit bureaus and we both have perfect credit reports and scores

I contacted EON this morning via the online chat service to ask about this debt to be told it was for the bill duration from 24/12/2014-18/03/2015

They stated we changed supplier and the final bill wasn’t paid which I agree with as we were in dispute with them at the time due to incorrect readings from the new build smart meters billing us £792 for 3 months use in a new build housing assistance property which was supposedly energy efficient. To compare we have a family of 6 now and spend £80 a month at the moment with updated billing monthly so it’s clear the charges applied from eon were wrong for our usage

we genuinely completely forgot about it though and have never received anything from them until this 75% offer today

What would you all recommend please as I can see it’s due to become 6 years old very soon from the dates given today by eon

Should I just pay the money or leave it run it’s course ? What’s the chances of Lowell sending CCJ papers before the 6 year deadline ?

    Should I offer less ?

Any help would be very grateful thank you
