  • Accident on a boat can my 90 year old mum claim ?

My Mum was on holiday on a boat along the Danube river, she tripped over a speaker left on the floor (it was dark) and this resulted in a broken hip, many weeks of pain and suffering, all this whilst my Brother was dying of dementia (at 57) so the final hip operation was cancelled on numerous occasions by lying hospital staff this resulted in my Mum biting the bullet and paying £15,000 her life savings to have it mended privately (by the same specialist that cancelled) but the insurance company refused to offer compensation, although they did fly her back to the UK in a private jet.. Am I rambling ? sorry, so my question can she make a claim for this as she has been told it comes under maritime laws ?? A bit of geography, the Danube is in the middle of Europe. Thanks in anticiapation

Presumably this is holiday insurance you refer to, which covered accidents?
Could you give a link to the policy wording please?
Holiday insurance should cover the policyholder even if on the high seas so the reference to maritime law seems a bit odd to say the least.

I would begin drafting formal complaint letter to insurers to be followed by complaint to insurance ombudsman.

It's my mum so I will have to see if I can get it and it won't be quick as she'll send it via snail mail
