small claim Defendant defence

Hi All

I am new here and I would be much appreciated for any help

I've made a small claim against to a Car trader and I am a prior a mediation step now. The Defendant have sent to court numbers of false statements.
May I still send a response to the "Defendant defence" after I’ve sent "Directions Questionnaire N180" to court?
Does sending a response to false statements in the " Defendant defence" make any difference right now or it waste of efforts?
