Hello all, seasons greetings. I am interested to find out If after submitting a Vetting form for a civil service position and admitting a previous employment dismissal around 7 years ago after a disciplinary meeting in my absence would this automatically mean my Vetting clearance would fail even though I have been self employed for past 8 years with no issues whatsoever Would appreciate any feedback on this topic. Thanks.

I assume it's PV vetting i.e. aimed at assessing any threat to National Security. It will not automatically fail because of an employment dispute.

Although not necessarily an automatic rejection, it may may depend on the reason for your dismissal (examples not aimed at the OP include dishonesty, breach of trust, on-going substance abuse etc).

On a more general point, the important thing to remember with all vetting applications and renewals is that they include an assessment of one's honesty and integrity. Withholding relevant information on the off-chance that the Vetting Officer may not know about it is fraught with danger.

Thanks very much. Great advice. Main thing is have to wait and see. Always better to be upfront and honest I suppose.

Yep, in my world "more often than not the cover up is worse than the crime itself" so to speak.
