  • Divorce - Internal relocation

    Hello all

This is my maiden post and I really hope someone can provide some insight.

My marriage is almost at an end (decree nisi stage) but there are still a few issues to resolve. My ex and I are still living in the same home with our two children (9 & 7 years). I have stayed as I’m the main carer and my ex cannot afford to go. Mediation broke down over child residency. I am pushing for majority residency as anything else (given all I do) will be detrimental to the children. Son also has asd so needs consistency. 50/50 residency will not work for him.

to complicate matters (slightly) I also wish to relocate with the children within the UK, 90 miles from mother back to my home town. Here the children will benefit from a very broad family network, great recreational facilities, schooling and a larger house than I could buy in London post decree absolute. I would be absolutely committed to them maintaining a strong relationship with their mother and would encourage trips down south every other weekend (where feasible) slightly longer holiday stays and regular FaceTime/Zoom sessions. The move would be hugely beneficial for them and would in no way alienate the mother.

    Does the above sound reasonable?
