job downgraded and so my role is redundant

Hi, I have been told that my role is closing , and I’m at risk of redundancy, however, they are creating exactly the same role on a lower grade, managing less people. Surely I should be automatically mapped to that role if I wish? As I am on the lower end of my pay scale, the sqlary in thenew role would still be within the band. Many thanks for your help.

Yes, you say at risk, not are. It is common that if an existing employee is well regarded the will be considered preferentially.
