I am one of the many new build homeowners across the country unable to sell my property due to insufficient internal fire-stopping and cladding insulation. After pressure from over 140 households living across 2 towers the housing association have provided a timeframe to start the work in March 2021 and make the homes safe.
Whilst I am extremely pleased to be moving forward, the housing association have indicated that the Contractor will most likely want the scaffold to be in position over both of the towers for around 50 weeks. I have two small children (one of whom suffers from asthma) and am expecting a third child early next year. My apartment is south facing and is extremely hot during the summer months. Whilst I appreciate the scaffold is necessary (in stages), I am increasingly concerned that my young family and I will be without privacy, daylight or fresh air for a year. What recourse do I have?
