Good Afternoon, I’m looking for some advice. I have a vehicle registered in my name, I don’t drive the vehicle I let my son use it for work. He pays all the costs associated with this , Tax, insurance, fuel etc. However unbeknown to me he fuelled his car and did not pay for the fuel. He did leave his name with the garage, I guess he was going to pay for this at some stage. Since then I have had a letter from the garage concerned quickly followed up by a legal small claim against me for this debt. Could someone kindly explain what my position is beyond strangling my son.

They have found the name of the registered keeper and gone to you as your son hasn't paid. My advice is to ring the garage and pay them as long as they withdraw the legal action.
As for your son, well you need to have words, and he needs to pay you for the fuel, he also owes you a drink for the inconvenience.
