  • Took something in error

Hi. Please help... I’ve just been to Asda to do my shopping with the kids. My youngest was screaming and I was feeling harassed and side tracked, picked up a birthday candle and while trying to passify my youngest child without thinking put the candle on my pocket! I got to the checkout and was paying for my shopping when the manager pulled me to the side away from my kids and asked what I had in my pocket, obviously I then realised I’d put it in my pocket and handed it to her, she told me I was banned from the store and if I was to go there again they would call the police’. They didn’t take my name or anything like that, but o was waiting my work uniform due to going shopping straight from work and now I’m in a real state worrying that they might right my work and tell them! (I work for a HUGE) company with 1000’s of employees.
are they legally aloud to tell my employer that someone from the company did that?
It was completely in error but I doubt they believe me

    thanks

It is easily done. I did something similar as a young teacher ( no screaming family either !)
Easy to say but forget it. I don't see any cause for concern. Anyone who hasn't made a mistake isn't human. There a lots of stores who would welcome your custom.

Thanks, I’m mortified! And worried they will get in touch with my employer, I’m sure they aren’t legally aloud to do that but I’m not sure?

Really don't understand the attitude of some stores, but relax, they won't be contacting anyone.

And if you should return to that store you will be trespassing.
That is not something the police will be interested in and all the store can do is request you leave.
If you refuse they can use reasonable force to eject you
However if caught stealing you could be charged with burglary

          Thank you!
Im not too fussed about not being able to return, I can shops elsewhere, it’s just more convenient to got there as it’s nearer.
I was just concerned that they may call my employer. Thanks for your reply

Why didn't I think of that but if they didn't take your name then you are one of 1,000s as you say
