  • Family Problem

Afraid it's another family problem. Mother and Father owned their own property but was registered in Mothers name only, Mother wrote a will lodged with her Solicitor, Property in her will solely left to eldest Son, Mother passed away. The question is will the property pass to Father ?. Father has now passed leaving no will, and Daughters are now asking how do things stand at present.

On the face of it, the property (house?) will pass to the eldest son.

If the daughters are unhappy with this they may be able to lodge a claim under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependents) Act 1975.
This has to be done within 6 months of the granting of probate.
