    This is an American term. Are you in the UK?

    If you are, then it is your responsibility to ensure you have a valid Certificate of Motor Insurance to drive a car (or ride a motorcycle).

      If they said they were continuing it you would have a cover note. Can you produce it?

        Was this an automatic renewal that has not been effected?
        If so have the insurers taken the premium automatically?

        If not what were the circumstances leading to the commitment to continue the policy?
        Was that commitment in writing?
