  • Voluntary Termination- damage

Hi - my car broke down last Thursday and I was told it requires significant work to replace a piston that would cost a coil me or thousand. I phoned my finance company and was told I could VT and they would send out someone to assess the car damage and write a report on liability. I stopped my insurance, did the SORN and went and got a new car as I can’t manage without one (3 kids). Then today (6 days later) they call to say they aren’t sending anyone and I must get a garage report/confirm report, quote to repair, photos of engine fault, and images of the full exterior and dashboard. Given they didn’t tell me any of this on first call where do I stand? Help

Not your problem, that's up to them to asses since it is their car. Of course they can charge you for any additional expense of lugging it away which I don't think you can dispute.
