I have a question about my General Practioners response to my LongTerm Disability Carrier. I have been disabled since 2003 from a lower back surgery leaving me with pinched nerves. Unum has cancelled my long term policy the first of August. After such a long period i have seen almost every Dr known to try and help me, chiropractors, pain mgt, I’ve had the shots, the pills the physica l therapy. I weined myself off of morphine 7 years ago. SonI asked my GP to fill the meds that I take. Cymbalta known to help manage my pain, muscle relaxer, anxiety med.
My question is: Unum called him and they finially got thru to his nurse, who said she would have to ask and get back to them. He was seeing patients. She called back 1.5 hours later and stated Dr said I could work full time. My Memory/ Neurologist said I could not work. I have known my GP for 35 years. He knows all i have been threw. All he does is fill my medication, he does not know my day to day pain, my limitations, etc.
I feel he was protecting his position with no questions asked. I asked him to let me get an Mri of my lower back and neck. He did not respond. I have since had MRI’s done and I still have the pinched nerve in my lower back and they want to send me to a surgeon for my neck. Can I sue him for patient negligence?
