  • Parking fines and a hand-amended CCJ

    Hello all,

I am looking for help and advice for my mother. Firstly, she was fined by Parking Eye for parking in a "patrons only" car park and despite providing proof of being a patron, the county court "paper hearing" seemingly ruled against her. She was now allowed to attend. Secondly, the court initially sent an order stating that Parking Eye should pay my mother £255. They later sent the same letter with the words "defendant" and "claimant" swapped around with red biro pen. Is that legally binding? The address section states that she should pay herself..

The courts use crossing out and amendment in red biro to show changes. I would suggest this is perfectly legal

Out of interest what makes up the claim for £255? PE are normally £175. Sounds like there was a default judgment did she send the required paperwork on time?

      Thanks Ostell.

The claim is £100 for debt and interest plus £155 for costs. The documents were definitely submitted on time. They were emailed along with the evidence. Which they definitely received, because a clerk on the phone commented about seeing the photos of my mum dining in the hotel.
