Used car sales help please

Hello, I have recently brought a used car from a dealer and had no warranty. The car is 2006 model. Today I took it to my local mechanic who has informed me that the head gasket has gone. I have phoned up the dealer and was pretty much laughed at. He said this is wear and tear. They won’t help me. Since I have brought the car, I have had to pay for a few things to be fixed. The car had no working hazard lights, no air con and will need a lot of welding underneath. I went to a dealer as I know absolutely nothing about cars. Have I got a leg to stand on or do I have to admit defeat.
