Unemployed due to COVID-19

I was supposed to join my work in May but the company just straight-up canceled my employment citing the pandemic as a reason. My passport is still stuck with my former office and I’m not sure if they’ve canceled it already or not. Right now I’m just upset and sinking into depression. The job was right there - I moved from Abu Dhabi to Dubai for it and now I’m going back to Abu Dhabi to stay with my family. All empty-handed and stuck. Will it be any good if I try contacting the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation or a labour advocate in Dubai for advice?
