  • Hello :P, MET Parking Services advice

Hello everyone, bit of a newb about these things and looking for some advice here.

The keeper of the vehicle received a notice in the post by MET Parking services saying that a payment is required of £100 or if your a good boy and pay within 14 days of notice it will be £50. The keeper of the vehicle understands that this isn't a fine but more of a notice kinda deal.

Location: McDonald's Boongate Peterborough, Padholme Rd E, Boongate, Peterborough PE1 5XL
    Max Permitted stay: 90 min
Length of stay on letter: 107min
    Date happened: 03/09/2020
    Date of notice: 08/09/2020

So the driver went to this McDonalds to see a friend and grab some food from the drive-thru to eat in the parking lot that is attached to the building site. The driver didn't see any signs suggesting of the max permitted stay anywhere when driving onto the land. Granted that the driver was there for a while, but they did go through the drive through twice.

The keeper of the veh thought that they would check google maps to have a look around for any max parking stay signs, however there where no signs about and the photos where kinda taken back in 2017.

Would this be the type of situation to pay it or appeal it?

Edit your post so that the identity of the driver cannot be inferred. Use "the driver......" etc. The driver drove and parked, the keeper received the letter and is now handling

post up the NTK suitably redacted.

Notice to Keeper, the letter you received. Put it on a hosting site such as imgur and put links to it on here.

Looks like MET have at last got things correct. Apart from the period of parking I can't find anything wrong

has the driver been into McD's to complain?

Even though the driver at the time overstayed 17 min and that the driver didn't see any clear indication in the parking area about the maximum stay time?

Could you tell me what you mean by they at last got things correct?

Smart were renowned for getting their notices wrong and cancelling without argument, but appear to have got their act together.

The period of parking statement, which is required, is not correct as it does not state a period and as it appears to be the only error I don't think it would get far.

You could always go up there and see the state of the signage and take photos without flash. If the signs are not lit then how could a driver be expected to see them.

Ahh I see, but with the period of parking isn't that the length of stay?

Been thinking about going up there tomorrow, take a picture of the signs (if there is any at all) in the daytime and at night time.

No, period of parking is while the car is stationary. If the car is moving in front of a camera it can't, by definition, be parking. POFA makes no mention of period of stay. In reality using ANPR they have no idea of the period of parking
