  • Unsure of my rights

    Hi guys,

My nan very unfortunately recently passed & I have been told that I am beneficiary of 30% of the will. However, my mum won't let me see the will, won't pass on the details of the power of attorney and has said they are looking to recover my grandads will where I was a 25% beneficiary even though he passed nearly a decade ago.

I have a few questions - is there any way that I can get a hold of the will? Is she allowed to block access? And is there any loophole whereby they could use my grandads will instead of my nans?

I wish I wasn't having to ask all of this but my mum has lied about a few things already. I just need to get on top of whats going on here for myself.

Until probate has been granted no one except the executor has a right to see the will.
Do you know if a grant of probate will be required?
if your nan's estate is small and doesn't include a house or stocks and shares, the executor may not need a grant.

The power of attorney is now of no effect so what do you want to know about it?

What do you mean by "they are looking to recover my grandads will"
Do you think or know that his estate was not distributed according to his will?

If you want to see a persons will, this can be done if probate has been granted via this site: https://www.gov.uk/search-will-probate
