  • Should I pay RLP??

Hi, last year I had a problem in TK Maxxx, where I ended up having to pay RLP £180 (no police were involved) I started paying in monthly instalments of £10 but then in September I think I must have missed a payment and my monthly instalments stopped. I then moved house and didn’t inform them of my new address, they’re now sending me text messages saying ‘We have not received your instalment payment for some time. Please call 07342 882 881 to avoid any further action. Retail Loss Prevention’ and also attempting to ring my mobile.

Should I continue to pay them? Is there anyway they can find out my new address? and also if I don’t pay them will it effect my credit rating as they have my bank details?

You should not be paying RLP anyway!! If it's the usual shop lifting then there has been no loss and I presume they are trying to charge for an alleged loss.

It will not affect your credit rating, there is no valid debt.

Set your mobile to reject their number.

Cancel any direct debit to RLP that is on your bank account.

Okay thank you for your speed reply. Yeah you assumed correctly. I only paid as I was scared of getting taken to court.

So just to confirm they can’t find out my new address to start sending letters there? And there’s no way it can effect my credit in anyway or show up?

What about court action? Sorry I’m just quite worried something will happen as I started to pay it and then stopped because they have quite a few of my details now.

      thanks!

If the police weren't called then doubtful that there will be any action now. The last time RLP tried court they got so firmly smacked by the judge that they haven't tried again. Search for RLP Oxford case and you will find the gory details.

They may find your address but you continue to ignore them. they work on creating fear in their targets.

Okay that’s good to know. It’s been over a year now since they last received a payment from me anyway, So I’m guessing they have been sending correspondence to my old address since then. So I’m really hoping they don’t find my new address as I’m now living with family members and don’t want any problems there.

Just one other question, why would they have waited a year to contact me by phone?

Because they didn't have your phone number perhaps?

I’m not sure how they would have acquired it, I’m sure they had it on record from when I called them originally to sort out the payments. Anyway I have blocked the number and will continue to ignore. Thanks for the advice
