  • DWF letters - Sainsbury’s theft accusation

    Hi there,

My partner and I have recently been banned from Sainsbury’s for shoplifting. We are not guilty and have never admitted guilt but we have settled the outstanding balance of £160 that they conjured from somewhere. We don’t want a headache. Sometimes we scan too quickly.

We have subsequently received letters (addressed incorrectly I might add to incorrect names but close enough) from DWF asking for security costs of £150.

    My questions are as follows:

    1) Should we pay this?
    2) If we ignore, when will the chain of letters likely end?
    3) Can any of this business affect credit score or even worse, go on criminal records?

We have read a LOT of people saying that these are scare tactics and that the threats are empty and will eventually go away. But how long?

We both work in public facing roles and obviously don’t want to lose our jobs.

When we were ‘caught’ and settled the outstanding sum, we specifically asked them if that’s it; whether any further action would be taken, whether the police would get involve and so on and their answer at Sainsbury’s was no. It’s done.

    Please kindly advise!

    Just ignore DWF
They are one of many so called Civil Recovery Firms who set themselves up as judge and jury and demand moey for imagined losses and costs their clients have claimed.
They are little more than selfappointed vigilantes and dare not go near a proper court since one of their ilk was roundly slapped down trying to charge admitted shoplifters some of these imagined costs (https://legalbeagles.info/forums/for...h-and-the-lies)

You can read all their letters here: https://legalbeagles.info/forums/for...rs-rlp-and-dwf

They cannot affect your lives in any way, except to increase your stress levels!
