  • Paintwork damage on a VT vehicle

    Hello

I was really hoping someone could advise - maybe
    R0b
    ?!

We have had our vehicle inspected today for VT. (They are not currently collecting until 3 working days later due to COVID).

The car had been keyed across the whole of one side and we have paid for the scratch to be repaired. The inspector has used a machine to identify that there is an issue with the repair and are looking to charge for 'rippled finish - repair and refinish', 'preparation marks - repair and refinish' at £165 each, and 'paint run - refinish' at £123. They also want to charge £65 per scuffed alloy (all 4 of them) and £52 for 'contamination - smart repair' on the bonnet paintwork (a mark caused by bird poo!)

The car is an 18 plate Nissan Juke and we have had it from brand new. Do any of the above paintwork issues come under 'fair wear and tear'? The total bill comes to £765. We have not signed the Inspection Report (as per advice on here) but are unsure on where we stand in terms of having to pay this bill.

Any advice would be much appreciated!

    Many thanks!
