  • QR codes reusable

Hi, early last year my friend booked a load of rooms in a hotel up and down the country as she tours, she booked about 10 dates while they had a deal on. The room was cheap plus you got a QR code sent to you for £10 off food and drink to use any time over the next 12 months. She then received 10 emails with 10 QR codes for use over the next 12 months. it states you can only use them once on the email but she told me she has used the codes several times since she can never remember which ones she has and hasn't used, she just keeps going in has got money of food and drink loads of times, probably using the same code! what can happen if they found out? I told her she should probably stop using it now, she said she's probably got some that haven't been used yet as she doesn't delete them after she's used them. She's now in a bit of panic as a told her she may get in trouble but how much trouble?? is it a legal matter or just their fault for letting her use the same code more than once?

Sounds similar to the McDonalds promo vouchers they have in the Metro every 2 weeks. They have a barcode and expiry date, but since the advert is repeated every fornight, the barcode never changes and is always accepted when scanned. I guess that this hotel runs a similar rolling promo and have factored in the cost of frequent guests to re-using the vouchers. Coupled with the fact that they keep sending your 'friend' new QR codes, I would be of the opinion that it's an open offer and I would milk their hospitality.... just make sure you(r friend) leave(s) a tip.
