  • A5 use (Takeaway)

Over 30 years ago my husband and I obtained change of use for a shop which we bought to A3 which at the time covered takeaways. Since then the usage codes have changed and there is now a separate code for takeaways which is A5. Does anyone know if our permission would automatically have become A5?
I’ve attempted to find the information on the local authority website but it’s search function is down.

See The Town and Country Planning (General Permitted Development)(England) (Amendment) order 2020 (https://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/...article/4/made)

    Basically that means:
Between 24 March 2020 and 23 March 2021, restaurants and cafes (Use Class A3) can change to a use for the provision of takeaway food (Use Class A5 and/or any use for the provision of hot or cold food that has been prepared for consumers for collection or delivery to be consumed, reheated or cooked by consumers off the premises).

This is subject to the local authority being notified of the change of use, and the use reverting back to the original one at the end of the time period above, or earlier if the provision of takeaway food ceases.
