Reported for ASB and possible eviction

I live in a housing association property and I have been accused by my housing of breaching my tenancy contract and I am at risk of being evicted.

The issue occurred around two weeks ago, when another tenant approached my wife in the garden area while she was having a private conversation with a housing association officer. I was in the house at the time and I could see that an aggressive argument was starting with the other tenant who initiated the argument and the aggressive behaviour towards my wife. The other tenant looked like he was about to hit my wife, so I rushed out of the house to defend my wife. I was then subjected to the same aggression and I was being revoked by the tenant who was shouting "hit me then", which I now realise was intentional so that I would be the guilty party.

Because of the anger that he showed to my wife and myself my wife intervened and held me back from hitting him, I have never been in any type of violent situation before, luckily I did not hit the person.

I reported the issue to my housing association and I have now been accused of a breach of my tenancy and I am at risk of being evicted. The housing association is saying that I should have just walked away and not confronted the tenant who started the confrontation. This is easier said than done when your wife is at risk of receiving physical violence.

Myself and my wife are retired my wife is disabled and like I said we have never been in any trouble before, we just cannot believe that the housing association is threatening to evict us.

Any legal advice would be very much appreciated.

Whilst fresh in your mind document exactly what happened, Also how does the HCO who was in attendance remember the situation?

Apologies I was not logged on when I started this thread, therefore the Guest status is showing.

I have made a full note of the events. There seems to be a few discrepancies with the H.O version than what actually happened, although I am not in possession of the full H.O statement I have made a request for a copy.

Because the tenant who instigated the argument and started the aggressive behaviour would I be in my right to confront this person under the 'self defence' criteria?
