My mother is dying of cancer and wants to gift me her house before she dies. She lives in the house with my stepfather (not a great guy) she will continue to live there with him. She completely owns the house and has paid off the mortgage a while ago. She has also left the house in her will to me already, but wants to adjust her will for other reasons anyway. We figured it’s safer for her to gift me the house rather than just put it in the Will so my stepfather could make a claim? What is the best route to take please?
