Work keep pestering me with phone calls and emails and requesting welfare meeting

I am currently on sick leave with depression this is my second week in, on a four-week note from my doctor. Work has asked to keep in touch with me every Wednesday via email and can I respond by a Friday, fair enough I know they can do this, with regards to their concern for me, :/ as my depression was triggered by work. I have replied via email, but now I'm being asked to go in for welfare meetings and the manager is saying she has been calling me to which I do not reply, I do not want to speak on the telephone and have told her this.
