I bought a car from a Used car dealer on finance nearly 3 years ago and I am a few months away from my balloon payment but the car has suffered a catastrophic engine failure due to manufacture design faults. The car is not yet 5 years old and hasn’t done much mileage for a car it’s age. I contacted the finance company, they don’t want to know and said it’s not their problem and if I try and give the car back, they will charge me for a new engine. I wrote to them and they rang me to tell me that I had to prove the car was faulty when I bought it. If it was faulty, I wouldn’t have bought it. I can’t see into the engine so didn’t know this could happen. It has a full service history from an approved dealer since I have had it. I have contacted the seller under Consumer Rights act 2015. They haven’t responded . I have found the problem is quite common and there are many others in the same situation but can’t afford the repairs. What else can I do?
