  • Enduring Power of Attorney Certified Copies

Can anyone tell me the exact wording required to create certified copies of an Enduring (not Lasting) power of attorney please? My mum is still able to sign documents so I want to get a stamp with the appropriate wording and the Government web site only has the LPOA wording.

You should have the EPA documents a copy of those stamped as such by a commissioner for oaths will do. I Imagine the cost will be a few tens of pounds per document

Thanks for responding. If I can confirm the wording for the stamp I can get copies signed by my mother who is still compos mentis. My local solicitor charge £10 per page and I need to get true copies to ten financial institutions. Having the stamp made up with the correct wording is around £30, saving her in excess of £450.

The wording for lasting POA is:

“I certify this is a true and complete copy of the corresponding page of the original lasting power of attorney.”

      On the final page:

“I certify this is a true and complete copy of the lasting power of attorney.”

So I am trying to find out if I can just substitute the word "lasting" with "enduring" or even just use a stamp with "lasting".

Incidentally, I have no idea why so many weird characters are appearing in the text of my post above. I'm using Chrome on Linux and it looks like the quotation marks are being rendered as icons " "

To save me typing read this link about certifying documents*https://www.gov.uk/certifying-a-document.

only get a couple of certified copies and ask the institutions to return them when they have taken their own copy.*
You can then send it to the next institution

Just in case anyone else is looking for this, I contacted the Office of the Public Guardian. You can use exactly the same wording on each page, but change the word "lasting" to "enduring". This information isn't on any publicly available Web site at the time of writing.
