  • Daughters inheritance

My mum died 2004 and left both my children £8000 my son is older and had his in 2 or 3 cheques over a period of 9 years my daughter has had 3 cheques on my request released to her with the final 3000 to be released for uni now. I have out of the blue been told I owe £400 +vat for work done with daughters money no bill for my sons money and they wont release till I agree to let them take fee out of daughters money. He was paid on mums death for looking after estate and I was never told there would be another charge or I would of taken it all immediately and put in an account. Can they just bill us like this?
