Good Evening. I went to the Apple Store in Regent Street London yesterday, where they have many checks before entering the store, including temperature ones which I was fine with. However, they said I had to wear a face covering. I told them that I am asthmatic and wearing a face covering is not good for me, and I showed them my inhaler. They told me that I cannot enter without one and can shop online. I told them that government guidance about face coverings specifically allow for medical exemptions. They still refused, saying that they are a private business and can do as they please, and I ended up giving up and left.
Do Apple have the right to do this?
Is this not against the Equality Act 2010 in which it is illegal to discriminate against someone due to medical disabilities?
Thank you so much for your help.
