Hi, I came across Legal Beagles while looking into the County Court Business Centre having received a claim form issued by Parking Eye Ltd. In November 2019 parked in a Parking Eye run car park intending to stay for between 2 and 3 hours. I attempted to pay the required fee of £3 but the third £! coin would not register. I put saliva on the coin (it has worked n other machines) but it still wouldn't register so in desperation I pushed a 20p coin in with the third £1 coin hoping that the extra weight would make it register. Unfortunately the machine issued a £2 ticket and didn't return my £1.20. I left the car park as intended, ie after 2 hours had elapsed but before 3 hours had elapsed. I later received a parking notice from Parking Eye and I wrote to them explaining the situation and asking them to check the receipts for the machine as there should be an overpayment. This was ignored and I appealed to POPLA, making the same point which was again ignored. I have now received a Claim Form from CCBC and intend to file a defence. I don't wish to travel to Northampton for a hearing, nor to Chorley where Parking Eye are based as the car park was in Stockton on Tees and was originally written to from a Parking Eye office in Blyth, Northumberland. Has anyone any tips or advice, please?

As a consumer the case will be held at the court of your choice.* Northampton is just a clearing centre.
