Hi - new to here.* My problem is this,* British Gas registered a default notice at an old address.* I did tell them that I had moved but it may have been afterwards.* The problem was, they were asking for £19,000......There is no way I could ever have paid this and I knew that it was incorrect.* I have just received a reply and response to my complaint via the ombudsman who ordered BG to credit my account by £16,500 as they had backbilled and overcharged.* During all this time, I have been turned down for credit, had to pay extortionate apr's on a car loan, lost my job as a result, worried endlessley to the point it had made me ill.* This has been going on since September of last year - a very long time when you know that you did not owe this.* It was such a large amount that it was overwhelming.* I am waiting for them to update my credit file accordingly but want to fight the default notice too.* As the amount was so very large, is there any redress I should go at BG for.* I want them to know the massive impact this has had on my life,* I know, to them,* I am inconsequential but surely it is wrong to do this to a person.* I have suffered enormously and am tired but relieved that they have reduced the amount.* Where can I go from here please?Thank you.
